Carter Creations-branding mockups

Whenever my mother and aunt work together on a creative project (they've written & illustrated at least 2 kids books so far) they call it, 'Carter Creations' with the tagline, 'Always the finest.'  When I wanted to practice my branding and company identity skills, I knew just what to call the business.

This is a jewelry and gift store because I couldn't find a better image using wrapping paper than the one above.  Overall I think it came out nice.  These prints are not recent and I was surprised how modern they came out with just a little recoloring.

And here's my earlier, rejected logo.  I thought it was just too difficult to read, even though I love that 80's style font.

Retro text effect quotes

Yeah! You got this!  I love anything that looks like cut paper or ribbon, still trying to perfect that cut and pasted look.

Too much text effects and overlays, maybe.  I love learning new tricks in Illustrator while coming up with logo or wording designs.  Sometimes I just want to use them all! Here, I basically did.  

Witches in 2 styles

Two variations of the same cute witch.  I like the grey background but I love the cut paper effects on the pink one.  Which witch is your favorite?

New artwork

Hi all!  I've had a very busy couple of weeks, but things are starting to get back to normal.  Thought I'd share a few sketches and works in progress:

A sketch of my little 3 year old pal, Beatrix. Bea likes to write me the most amazing letters, as dictated by her mother, my sweet & talented friend Erica.  She made me some wonderful valentines and a beautiful piece of embroidery, a proper thank you note was required. 

My parents teach 1st grade Religious Ed and I wanted to make some prayer cards for them, using my new laminator.  I am not quite happy with this one yet.  I think I have a mental block when drawing the faces of Mary or Jesus- nothing feels quite correct.  So this is a work in progress.

And finally, a very silly birthday card for one of my dearest friends, Sophia, my first ever friend and roommate at Parsons.   I wanted an early 90's Lisa Frank vibe, but it had to incorporate bananas in some way.  I drew an embarrassing amount of bananas before settlings on this one.
